What is a social network you have followed and enjoyed?
This is a tough question for me (as you will see in the next post as to why :) )... I haven't really been following social media for Latin as of late except in specific instances. So, when I reflect on the new social media accounts and networks I've started using, the list is most likely un-Latin related. That being said, I want to take some time and reflect on the things I have been following and why I find them interesting and compelling.
  1. Conference hashtags - I love conference hashtags... and in fact, the hashtag in general. Of course, I remember when we just called it the pound sign. There are a few I check on regularly either because I'm at the conference or I wish I were. Nota Bene: each of these # will be followed by the year of the conference: #acl, #flag, #actfl, #ntprs, #iflt. #scolt
  2. The Latin Best Practices Group on Facebook - In short, I'm not on Facebook anymore. I mean, I am, but I'm not. When I do log on, if I see something interesting in this group, I will go check it out. This group posts regularly and is full of CI Latin teachers ready to discuss and share.
  3. #latinsnailmail (latinsnailmail.weebly.com) - You'll hear more about this later in another reflection, and I need to give a bit of disclosure here: I am in charge of this website and #. It is a project about writing real Latin to real people and also about reviving snail mail :)
  4. #postcrossing - Okay, this, technically, has nothing to do with Latin, but I'm adding it to this list. This #, which is also a site, allows people to send postcards across the world to strangers. It is wear my #latinsnailmail journey actually began. This # has inspired me in my Latin writing and ideas. Also, recipients will often request something written in the author's own language (if it isn't English). I thrive on writing a few sentences in Latin each time.
What hashtags did I miss? I'd love to hear what you are following in the comments below!
